Ali and Johnny [Engagement Session]

If you are a follower of my blog, you will probably recognize this couple. Ali and Johnny's proposal was featured a few months back. These two really do hold a special place in my heart. Everybody has their own love story and often I get to share those lovely stories on my blog. But this one is even more special because I have known Ali and Johnny for 5 years. I have known them as Johnny and Ali and I have known them as JOHNNY and ALI.  Actually, I would like to think I helped shape their relationship :) I still remember the night they officially became a couple (because lets just say we all knew it was bound to happen). We were freshmen in college and it was a cold January (27th) night when the fire alarms went off, when we came back in the building I still remember Ali telling that Johnny and her were official!

I feel so lucky to be able to witness a love like theirs; one with such intention and imperfections. The type of imperfections that help build one another up and provide purposeful moments in a relationship. I cannot wait for May 30th, 2015 when you two tie the knot!

Michael Ehrman [Senior Session 2015]

Hello Again!

It feels like a lifetime since I have posted on the blog. I have had so many wonderful sessions taking place that my blogging has taken a backseat. Not okay, but don't worry that is all gonna be changing. In the next few weeks, Megan Ann Photography will be graced with new stories and tons of colorful photos.

One of the many senior sessions I am excited to share, features the guy you will see below. I have known Michael his entire life! He is beyond talented, humble and so sincere. I always love working with my seniors to find a way to showcase who they are in their senior session. Michael is a gifted cellist and soccer player, so it seemed pretty obvious that we would incorporate his interests to tell his story better.

I am so excited to see what the rest of this year brings for you, Michael. You will do great things! I leave you with wise words from Dr. Seuss, one of my favorites.

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You'll Go!

Lindsey McAlpin [Senior Session 2015]

I always love when I have seniors who are open to exploring new areas and put all their trust in my ideas! Lindsey lives in Minnesota and I didn't have much time to location scout before this particular session, but man did we find some pretty great spots while exploring!
If you all were to meet Lindsey you would get the chance to see how energetic, easy-going and kind she is. She has a bubbly laugh that makes you just want to laugh along side her. Besides being down to earth, she has a killer wardrobe and some fantastic shoes I would love to steal borrow. I loved every minute of helping create this memorable session. I can't wait to see what this next year brings for you Lindsey! I know you will have so many exciting opportunities ahead!

Megan Ann Photography [Branding]

This post has been one in the making for many months and I am glad I can finally share it with you all! My lovely business cards are done, in my hands and I am in love with how they turned out. Engage Paperie and Spark Letterpress were fantastic to work with and they made the process super easy. I would highly recommend you check them out for any printing needs! My logo design was a collaborative process with my friend and former Augustana classmate, Sarah Swenson. She captured all the things I wanted reflected in my new branding…organic, minimalistic with a twist of timeless elegance! The finished product is exactly what I envisioned, thanks for all the help ladies!

A couple of months ago I posted a quote, "We cannot become what we want to be by remaining what we are." Max DePree. Throughout my branding process, which is not quite 100% completed, I have reminded myself of this quote…on a daily basis! I'm not gonna lie, it has been scary to make the move forward. It holds me accountable on a completely different level than I had ever experienced before. Taking the leap into the unknown is always a risk, but I have also realized I can't grow or move forward without the jump. I didn't want to remain where I was, which left me with the only option to push forward in a new direction! I want to continue to learn and grow and become a better photographer and business woman. Since taking the leap of faith, I could not be more excited, energized, and eager to keep on exploring this new world. What an adventure it has been and I can't wait to see where it continues to take me. Thanks for all the continued support family, friends, and industry mentors!

The final piece of my branding is my website, so until that is completed keep using meganannphotos.blogspot.com

Wedding [Jada & Brad]

Jada and Brad's country wedding was a joy to be a part of. It was a day filled with love and support from friends and family alike. The wedding ceremony was a place near and dear to the bride and her family. It is a place they call home at various times of the year, a place they go to be together with family and place they go to relax.  There was an ease to the day and I contribute that to the fact that they opened their home to all, making everyone feel as if they have been a part of their family for years.

Congratulations Jada and Brad, thanks for letting me be a special part of your day. It was a memorable celebration!!
